In the United States, the month of December is the Christmas Season, not the Holiday Season. To the best of my knowledge there is only one holiday in December recognized by our government. December 25 was made a legal holiday in order to celebrate the birth of Christ.
Does God Exist?
Many people say they don’t believe in God but what they may mean is that they don’t believe in organised religion.
Organised religion poses a very limited version of God.
At the heart of most religious life is still worship, rather than love for one another in day to day life. Why would God care so much about being worshipped and thanked all the time? Does he have such a big ego?
Don’t Tell Me I Can’t Say Merry Christmas
I’m not insulted if someone wishes me happy Chanukah or happy Kwanza so why should anyone be insulted if I say merry Christmas. It seems to me that the only people that complain about Christmas are certain Atheists and the people that have designated themselves as “political correctness police”. Well. in this country you people have the right to state your thoughts but please stop trying to force your way of thinking on everyone else. Leave us alone. Get your own holiday, leave us ours.
First An Atheist, Then An Agnostic And Now A Believer
have always been an enthusiastic reader. When I was very young I got caught up in reading books about religion, mythology, etc.. By the time I was seven (7) I had read both the old and new testaments of the bible, dozens of books about Hinduism, Buddhism, Islamism and numerous books about ancient mythology. Being very young I knew nothing about shades of grey and saw everything in black and white.
Getting Your Children Excited About Church
No matter what religion you belong to, many people in today’s modern society find that their children often don’t enjoy attending Church, and some even downright dread it. If you are trying to raise your children to believe in God and want them to learn more about your religion, it is important that they enjoy and look forward to going to Church.
God Exists Brighter than the Sunshine
God exists. He created us not only with His great intelligence but also with His great love and care.
When Will America Wake Up?
In order to win the presidency in America, candidates must stir up the religious fervor of the voters (gay marriage/civil union) and then vocally (and in some cases visually) wear your (new) Evangelical beliefs on your sleeve. It used to be candidate vs. candidate, then party vs. party, big business vs. the common (wo)man, platform vs. platform, then region vs. region, but now none of that matters as a new America has emerged, an America in which the majority with a religious…
The Most Dangerous Place in the World Right Here In America
My brother once asked me what I thought was the most dangerous place to be in the whole world. I pondered his question by mentally perusing all the hot spots throughout the world where disease and war were rampant. I cant remember what I answered but I will never forget my brothers answer to me.
The Right To Die Should Be A Personal Matter
I believe that the right to die should, in most cases, be a personal matter and not a political matter (I am talking for adults, not for children. Children, and I include teenagers in this, have not lived long enough and do not have enough life experience to decide their own fates. Some of them think the world is at an end if they get a bad grade or a pimple.). While I am a Republican (I just can’t stand the thought of aligning myself with far left fanatics like Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, etc..), I disagree with many Republican ideals. One of those ideals is the right of the government, state or federal, to decide if I have “the right to die” on my own terms.
Misinterpreting the Middle East Crisis as an Apocalypse
Some Christans today are rejoicing at the bloodshed in the Middle East, believing that it’s a sign of the Second Coming. This illustrates some peoples desire to find simple answers to complex issues coupled with an erroneous conception of the Bible. Complex issues usually require complex solutions. However, when the Bible gets involved or invoked, the issue gets a little thornier.
Middle East Peace Is An Oxymoron
The phrase Middle East and the word peace are so contradictory that when put together they become an oxymoron. An oxymoron, as defined by the American Heritage Dictionary, is “a rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined”. There are very few things in this world that are more contradictory than the words “Middle East peace.”
School Prayer, Right Or Wrong
In the Bill Of Rights, the First Amendment to the Constitution, titled “Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression” states the following: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech
