We are half-way through this warm weather month of August and the heat has become something of a burden and a hassle for many of us. Good thing the weather can be a source of amusement too sometimes. There were two reports last week about the weather that just made me smile. Im re-telling them here in an effort to provide you with something to smile (or smirk) about this summer.
The Effects Global Warming May Have On Our Planet
While many realize that global warming is occurring on our planet, few understand the implications that this may have on our way of life. These rising global temperatures are going to cause a host of changes on our planet, and we need to act now or prepare to adjust to some very profound changes.
The Vast Potential Of Human Cloning
Think of a world where infertile, childless couples can go to a medical clinic, purchase cell replacements for malfunctioning cells in the reproductive system and, thus, bear kids; a world where people afflicted with degenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease can replace their damaged cells and be cured again; a world where the crippled can get the much-needed cells to revive their spinal chord and walk again.
Astronomy
The stars have always been a fascinating subject. Perhaps that’s one reason why astronomy is so popular these days.
Noah’s Flood
The Flood of Noah is one of the centerpiece arguments for young-earth theology. Because of this, I have been asked what I believe the Flood of Noah was like.
To answer this question, let us first look at what the Flood is not it is not the event that has been described by the young-earth theorists. There is no possible way the Flood could produce the rock record we see, nor could the flood produce all the coal layers, oil reserves, or chalk layers that we see in the rocks…
Am I Just a Freak of Nature?
My parents were not much into going to church but my paternal grandparents dragged my four brothers and I into church whenever possible. I went to Sunday School and sat through countless sermons all the while wishing I were out playing baseball or doing something fun. I had better things to do on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings then attending church services. Thinking back, I am glad I did attend. Some of it did sink in. A seed was planted.
Chalk And Noah’s Flood
Young earth creation science advocate Andrew Snelling proposes in his article “Can Flood Geology Explain Thick Chalk Layers?” that it is possible to lay down massive layers of chalk in a short amount of time (Footnote 1). It is necessary for him to prove this can happen, because the chalk layers must be laid down during the Flood of Noah for him to prove that the earth is young, and that the days of creation were literal twenty-four hour days.
So, what is chalk? For that I…
God Doesn’t Care About Creation Science
How could such a statement be true? How could the creator of all things not really care about His creation?
As a blanket, catch-all statement, it is only partially true. God cares that you recognize Him as the creator. What Im referring to is the how of creation.
As Christians, we all have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides us, convicting us of sin. If our thoughts about the length of creation are not correct, then why hasn’t the Holy Spirit convicted us of thi…
Hot topic: Evangelicals debate global warming
For Earth Day, observers weigh in on the Evangelical Climate Initiative, a program that began as a frustrated response to the National Association of Evangelicals reluctance to adopt a position on global warming. The initiative hopes to motivate evangelicals to be more Earth-friendly and use their political clout to influence environmental policy.
The Most Dangerous Place in the World Right Here In America
My brother once asked me what I thought was the most dangerous place to be in the whole world. I pondered his question by mentally perusing all the hot spots throughout the world where disease and war were rampant. I cant remember what I answered but I will never forget my brothers answer to me.
Giant Squid Finally Captured On Film
On 27 September 2005, the greatest zoological discovery of the century was announced. For the first time ever, a live giant squid was caught on film.
The Animal
The giant squid (Architeuthis) has been known to humans since ancient times. Giant squid were regular features in many Norwegian tales (where, many believe, it inspired the creature known as the Kraken). The first substantiated report of a real giant squid, was in 1873. The animal was reported to have been att…

Here’s how phobias work.
