Thomas Jefferson said, “Eternal vigilance is the price of democracy,” but besides preserving our democracy we are also in a never-ending struggle to create and expand our rights. While our founding fathers called for freedom and democracy, our people had to struggle to enfranchise poor whites, to end slavery and to allow former slaves and women the right to vote. Liberties and entitlements that were never considered in the early days of our republic were later enshrined into …
Politics and the Internet
Internet can help people gain political power
Ferdinand Marcos – President of the Philippines, 1917-1989
A trained lawyer, Marcos was convicted of assassinating a political opponent of his father in 1939 and, from his condemned cell, argued his case up to the Philippine Surpreme Court, where he won an acquittal.
Politics: The Corruption Curve
In a world where hereditary monarchies are an anachronism, the most absolute power lies in the political sphere whether wielded by a military-backed dictator or by those who have been so repeatedly elected to office that they no longer see themselves as public representatives but as entitled oligarchs of a system they control.
Geoge W. Bush’s Life Path, Challenges, And Values-horoscope Analysis
What is inside Geoge W. Bush’s soul? What is he really thinking? It’s all in the stars. Let’s see his brief horoscope natal analysis.
The Right To Die Should Be A Personal Matter
I believe that the right to die should, in most cases, be a personal matter and not a political matter (I am talking for adults, not for children. Children, and I include teenagers in this, have not lived long enough and do not have enough life experience to decide their own fates. Some of them think the world is at an end if they get a bad grade or a pimple.). While I am a Republican (I just can’t stand the thought of aligning myself with far left fanatics like Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid, etc..), I disagree with many Republican ideals. One of those ideals is the right of the government, state or federal, to decide if I have “the right to die” on my own terms.
George Bush’s Deception
Yesterday, I watched in disbelief George W. Bush’s convoluted speech to the House of Representatives. It was rather telling that this speech wasn’t in primetime but rather at 9 a.m. (6 a.m. in the West). I know a lot about politics since I write political thrillers (www.thetwentyfirstcentury.com) and I am constantly doing research for my books and articles. But it doesn’t take a writer of politics, or even one who doesn’t follow politics, to realize that what George Bush said…
UAE’s Imbalanced Demography Poses Concerns
Dubai and UAE’s rising expatriate population is generating much concern these days. The administration requires looking at it very seriously before things got too complicated to be resolved.
Internet And Cable Tv Shake Up Democracy
Very rarely are we given the opportunity as citizens to participate in a revolution. The citizens that founded our republic participated in a revolution that has affected every corner of the earth for more than 200 years now. Our grandfathers and fathers participated in a revolution during World War II when we successfully ridded the world of Adolph Hitler and his technology of death that was sweeping civilization.
Blood Extravasation: Israels Journey to the Precipice of Nowhere
Western civilizations lone bastion in the Middle East has lost sight of its holistic long-term visage, and is behaving like a fracturalized cornered animal, lashing at all within its grasp. Israel fails to remember Chaim Weizmanns precursor to entering Palestine, an inclusive benefice for both Palestinian and Israelite, while Hezbolla solidifies its political gains by building hospitals, schools, and sadly, but historically predictable, terrorism. Israel lurches forward in its current flailings as a self-destructive proponent of blood extravasation, adding and fortifying its enemies amidst its long and arduous journey, not to peace and prosperity, but instead towards slowing progress as it perches on the precipice of nowhere.
Is War With Iran Imminent?
In Novermber, 2006, in an article that I posted to my blog The Underground Investor, I wrote this : even if the Iranian conflict eventually materializes, a prior short, surgical strike elsewhere seems much more likely. In fact, Venezuela, or a smaller South American country such as Bolivia or Ecuador would seem to be a prime target if this is the case.
” The Failure is Sundered Within”
The failure is sundered within each of us, it festers as blame to others, a manifestation of the shame that belongs not to ourselves but of the participants of a deadlier game. Yet innately the affectation begins with our own visceral manumission of guilt, and sadly, empirically lies buried in our own personal failings.
